Congratulations to all of our Athletics Day participants - it was a great day to celebrate the abilities of our senior students.  We look forward to celebrating our Junior Athletes this Friday.  

Thanks to all of you who supported Gumboot Friday.  We were so proud to raise $170 to fund mental health support for our rangitahi in Aotearoa.  

We held off our newsletter on Friday so that we could publish some pictures of our tamariki taking part in Villy Day Out.It was a great day and our teina and tuakana kapa haka made us really proud.  Ka pai koutou!  E mihi kau atu nei ki ngā kaiako katoa o Te Whānau Harakeke mō tō rātou tautoko ki ngā tamariki o ngā kapa.  

We would like to pass on our thanks to the following whānau who came along, helped with set-up and pack-up and supported our facepainting.  We really appreciate your support so that we can contribute to such an important kaupapa for Ruakākā Village.

Basketball/Netball Turf
The paperwork for our Basketball/Netball Turf due to be constructed outside of Rooms 18/19 near Te Pā Harakeke has been approved.  We will be holding a planning meeting with Guyco for this project in early December with work starting soon after.  Thanks also to Jess our librarian for successfully applying for $20,000 of funding to go towards this project from Grassroots Trust. Ka rawe!

Final Painting project
Carus have been contracted to complete the final painting project to paint the Sanctuary block.  We will also paint all the remaining areas of the school that are not in our beautiful SHINE colours. 

Junior play area outside the Nest
We will add safety fencing to the sandpit and a platform for seating under the Pohutukawa tree so that this area can begin to be used next term.  We have some funding from the MoE for enhancing this outdoor area. 

Bike track improvement, Bricks & Mural installation
At the beginning of 2026 we will plan the installation of our mural, improvements to our bike track and a creative project using our fundraised bricks.  

Ruakākā School hoodies and tees, Whānau t-shirts and Te Whānau Harakeke hoodies and tees can be ordered online here. These are not being done as a fundraiser and are being sold at the lowest possible price for you all.

Please make sure your tamariki has a change of clothes in their bag every day. We only have a small amount of clothes in the office in case of emergencies, so we may need to call you to bring in some clothes for your child.
